On May 29, 2026, Ambassador Zhou Limin visited Chalmers University of Technology and exchanged views with President Martin Nilsson Jacobi and others on China-Sweden cooperation in education and scientific research.

Ambassador Zhou noted that Chalmers University of Technology was founded in the context of the trade and friendly exchanges with China initiated by the Ship Götheborg and has grown into a leading institution in Sweden’s higher education, scientific research, and innovation sectors. He stated that China is transforming from the world’s factory into a global innovation hub, and that the university’s academic strengths and development priorities closely align with the key areas outlined in China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. He expressed the hope that the university would further explore opportunities for cooperation with China in such areas as joint educational programs, exchange initiatives, and cooperation between Chinese and European university alliances, so that the benefits of cooperation could reach more students and researchers in both countries.

President Jacobi briefed Ambassador Zhou on the university’s development and its cooperation with China. He noted that China and Sweden share similar development priorities in a number of strategic fields and can work together to address global challenges. He expressed the university’s readiness to continue deepening cooperation with China, explore joint educational programs, expand exchange opportunities, and promote the sustained development of China-Sweden cooperation in education and scientific research.
